North Carolina code and your local fire marshal requires that fire extinguishers in the workplace are all metal construction and rechargeable. They must be located, maintained and inspected in accordance with NFPA 10. The most common extinguishers, dry chemical are also subject to a 6 year teardown and a 12 year hydrotest from the date of manufacture.
